Our Dance Study

The children have been learning about different aspects of dance. This has come about from many children currently having a huge interest in dancing. The teachers had noticed that the children at Little Lumsden were really enjoying moving and dancing to a varitey of different music while the children at Big Lumsden were enjoying watching the way different singers moved and danced such as Pink. All the children at Lumsden have all really taken to our Friday sessions of Hip Hop.

We have been learning about six specific forms of dance including; Kapa Haka, Areobics, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop and Rock & Roll. We have YouTubed lots of different dances as well as looked at their costumes, and listened to the different music.

We even had Sophie’s Nana and Pop come in to do a Rock & Roll demonstration which we all loved.

To conclude our study we put on a Dance Showcase of our own. We invited our families along to watch us perform and then at the end we asked them to get up and join in a Jump Jam dance with us. We loved being able to teach our parents the moves to one of the dances we have been learning. They all did a great job.
